Union Minister Bhupender Yadav highlights need for balanced, suitable and wise utilisation of natural resources

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav today chaired a meeting of the National Institute for Research and Application of Natural Resources to Transform, Adapt and Build Resilience – NIRANTAR. NIRANTAR is a platform of institutions under the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry aimed at improving coordination and collaboration. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yadav said that the country has a large repository of natural resources and highlighted the need for a balanced, suitable and wise utilisation of these resources.

The Minister also underlined four verticals of the platform, which focus on different aspects of research, assessment of outcomes and their ultimate utilisation. He emphasised the importance of the country’s bioresources and said this platform could play a crucial role in ensuring their sustainable use for development. Mr Yadav stated that a whole-of-government approach, better coordination, and cooperation are essential to achieve good results from the NIRANTAR platform.
