Union Minister for Railways , IT and Information and broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India has witnessed rapid development in railway infrastructure over the past 12 years. He stated that several railway stations in the country and in Rajsthan are being redeveloped with a new and grand appearance. Mr. Vaishnaw was addressing the launching ceremony of the Bhuj-Bareilly Express train service in Jalore today.
Mr Vaishnav said that earlier Rajasthan used to receive only Rs 500-600 crore annually for railway development, but now nearly Rs 10,000 crore is being spent every year. As a result, work on several railway projects across the state is progressing rapidly. Mr. Vaishnaw flagged off the Bhuj-Bareilly Express train service. Earlier in the day, he flagged off the 20-coach Vande Bharat Express from Jodhpur to Delhi Cantt. The semi-high-speed train was earlier operating with only eight coaches.
