Union Minister for IT and Information and Broadcasting Ashwani Vaishnaw today launched an AI skilling programme to impart AI skilling to ten lakh youth across the country. He launched this programme while virtually addressing an Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Rajasthan’s Jaipur. Mr Vaishnaw said that within a year, ten lakh young people and small entrepreneurs will receive AI skills under this initiative.
He said Artificial Intelligence, AI, is emerging as a transformative force across sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, manufacturing, governance, and infrastructure. He said that AI is not just a technology of the future but a powerful tool that is already reshaping human life and work patterns.
Mr. Vaishnaw has announced that the Global AI Impact Summit will be held in New Delhi next month. He said the AI Impact Summit, which was previously held in the UK, South Korea, and France, is now being held in India this time. He added that as part of the preparations of Global AI Summit, regional AI summits are being held in all states of the country. Mr Vaishnaw informed that recently, several such summits were held in Meghalaya and Odisha, and today at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Mr Vaishnaw highlighted that India is witnessing an investment of approximately 70 billion dollars in AI, which is a very significant investment. This IndiaAI Mission involves several new experiments, new applications, and new technology development projects. The Minister emphasised that the Government is committed to responsible, inclusive, and ethical use of AI. He said India’s approach focuses on using technology for social good, ensuring that digital innovation benefits the common citizen, especially those in rural and underserved areas.
Speaking at the event, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada has said that Artificial Intelligence is bringing major transformation in human life. He said, AI is now being widely used across all sectors, leading to enhanced capacity building. He said the Centre has allocated a budget of more than 10 thousand crore rupees for the India AI Mission. The Minister said the mission is focused on promoting the use of AI to bring comprehensive changes in various fields.
During the programme, experts discussed real-world applications of AI, data security, digital infrastructure, and India’s growing role as a global technology hub. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma was also present at the event. On this occasion, the Rajasthan AI-ML Policy 2026 was also unveiled.
The Rajasthan DigiFest TiE Global Summit is concluding today with the Regional AI Impact Conference. Sectoral sessions are also being organised on the responsible use of AI for public service delivery, the future of employment, and skill development. This Regional AI Impact Conference has been organised to promote governance reforms, economic development, innovation, and inclusive growth through Artificial Intelligence.
