Union Agriculture Minister Says 9.25 Crore Farmer IDs Created Across 19 States

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that 9.25 crore farmer IDs have been created so far across 19 states. The Union Minister held a review meeting with the agriculture ministers of various states. During the meeting, the Minister directed the states to act strictly against hoarding and black marketing of fertilisers. He said that farmers should receive a fair price for their produce, their complaints should be redressed in time, and procurement should be done directly from farmers.

On the approvals granted to states for the procurement of certain crops, Mr. Chouhan directed that procurement should be limited strictly to FAQ (Fair Average Quality) produce. He added that farmers’ registration should be done on Aadhaar‑linked portals and biometric or face authentication should be made mandatory at procurement centres.

While sharing information about the organisation of Regional Agriculture Conferences, the Minister said that the country will be divided into five agro-climatic zones, and comprehensive discussions will be held for each zone. Accordingly, the first conference for the Western Zone will be held in Jaipur on 7th of this month.
