The UMEED Central Portal for management of Waqf Properties has been officially closed for uploads on the 6th of this month. The Ministry of Minority Affairs informed that the portal has completed its 6-month window, as per the UMEED Act, 1995 and the clear directions of the Supreme Court. The Ministry noted that over 5 lakh Waqf properties were initiated on the Portal, while over 2 lakh properties were approved by the designated approvers.
It also informed that over 2 lakh 13 thousand properties have been submitted by makers and remain in the pipeline as of the deadline, and 10 thousand 869 properties were rejected during verification. The Ministry added that many review meetings, training workshops, and high-level interventions, even at the Secretary level, injected renewed pace into the process, making the upload surge in the last hours.
To support this massive national exercise, the Ministry of Minority Affairs conducted continuous workshops and training sessions with States and Union Territories Waqf Boards and Minority Departments. It is informed that a two-day Master Trainer Workshop was also conducted in Delhi to equip Waqf Boards and States and Union Territories officials with hands-on training for the uploading process.
UMEED stands for the United Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995.
