UIDAI Data Hackathon 2026 showcases innovative student-led governance solutions

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has successfully concluded the UIDAI Data Hackathon 2026, showcasing innovative student-led solutions aimed at improving governance and public service delivery through digital identity data.
 
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has said the hackathon was launched to promote innovative and responsible use of digital identity data and provide students and young professionals with a platform to develop scalable, data-driven solutions. It added that the initiative also aims to enhance inclusion, efficiency and governance outcomes.
 
According to the Ministry, the initiative received an overwhelming response, with nearly 15 thousand teams registering and over five thousand teams submitting solutions, making it one of the largest data innovation challenges in the Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem.
 
Speaking on the occasion, UIDAI Chief Executive Officer Vivek Chandra Verma praised the teams for combining analytical rigour with a strong public-interest perspective. He said such innovations have the potential to support policy and operational improvements while highlighting the importance of responsible and ethical use of data for inclusive governance.
