The government has said that a total of 190 projects have been approved under the India AI Mission. Out of these, 78 projects are with Government entities, 46 projects are with Startups and MSMEs, and 27 projects are with Researchers or academia. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today. He informed that the government had launched the India AI mission with an outlay of ten thousand 372 crore rupees for the development of the overall AI ecosystem in the country. The Minister said, under this mission, more than 38 thousand Graphics Processing Units for common compute facilities have been onboarded through the AI compute portal, which are being provided to Indian start-ups and academia at an affordable rate.’ GPUs are highly advanced equipment and are primarily manufactured in one country.
