Environment Ministry to organise special programmes to highlight India’s achievements in big cat conservation & promote IBCA goals

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will organise a series of special events across the country to highlight India’s achievements in big cat conservation and promote the goals of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA).

As a precursor to the IBCA Summit 2026, the programmes will focus on India’s five major wild big cat species – Tiger, Asiatic Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard and Cheetah. The events will showcase conservation efforts, challenges and cooperation between the Central Government and State Governments. The thematic events will be held in different parts of the country, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Maharashtra.
