Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said that the Textile sector has seen tremendous growth in the last decade, from 8.4 lakh crore rupees in 2014 to around 16 lakh crore rupees today. Inaugurating the 74th India International Garment Fair-IIGF 2026 in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said that the domestic market has also increased from 6 to 13 lakh crore rupees in 2025, while the country’s exports have also witnessed over 25% rise post-pandemic.
The Minister further noted that as of December 2025, the textiles industry has reached 29 thousand crore rupees. Highlighting these achievements, Mr Singh said that the sector has become one of the biggest platforms for generating employment. He also stressed creating India’s own standards rather than focusing on foreign designs. India International Garment Fair is a platform for Indian exporters to connect with overseas buyers. The fair provides an opportunity for exporters to showcase their latest designs, trends, and products.
