In Arunachal Pradesh, 10 BJP MLAs have been declared elected unopposed after the last date of withdrawal of nominations on Saturday. Arunachal Pradesh is going to simultaneous polls for its 60-seat Legislative Assembly and two Lok Sabha constituencies on the 19th of April in a single phase.
Akashvani’s correspondent reports that with BJP securing 10 seats unopposed in the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, polling will be held for the remaining 50 Assembly seats now. Single nomination papers have been filed in six Assembly constituencies, while in four others, opposition candidates withdrew their papers. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso are among the prominent candidates who have won unopposed. BJP has fielded candidates in all 60 seats and Indian National Congress is contesting in only 13 seats. For the two parliamentary constituencies, there are 14 candidates in the fray, with eight candidates for the Arunachal West parliamentary Constituency and six for the Arunachal East Constituency.
