The Mission Bhagiratha Engineer-in-Chief’s office in Telangana has completed a major feedback drive on drinking water supply across the state, acting on directions from Minister Seethakka, who heads the Panchayat Raj and Rural Water Supply Department.
Over the past ten days, officials contacted Sarpanches from 12,457 out of 12,728 gram panchayats by phone. The feedback covered 16 key areas, including water supply regularity, water quality, tank cleanliness, chlorination, pipeline leakages, pump performance, household tap connections, and awareness of the toll-free helpline number 1916.
Minister Seethakka reviewed the findings through a video conference on Saturday. She expressed satisfaction that the majority of Sarpanches were happy with the current drinking water supply. The Minister has directed officials to resolve all identified problems by April 15, as part of the 99-day public governance action plan. She also instructed that open wells be dug in remote villages without Mission Bhagiratha coverage, and check dams be built in tribal and agency areas before the monsoon season.
