The Tamil Nadu Government has decided to establish and maintain pet parks in Chennai and Coimbatore with private participation. This is a step to create public awareness about safe pet ownership and compassionate handling of animals.

The Government has invited private charitable organisations, non-governmental organisations or animal welfare organisations with prior experience in this field. The selected organisation will be allowed to develop and maintain the allotted space using its own funds by establishing necessary facilities for pets, such as play equipment, green lawns, shops related to pet food and supplies, training equipment and handbooks containing rules and guidelines. The application form and guidelines can be downloaded from www.tnawb.tn.gov.i.n Completed forms should be sent before the 26th of this month.
