In Tamil Nadu, eleven people died and 54 were injured in a bus accident near Tirupattur in Sivaganga District. Government buses from Aranthangi to Dindigul and Tirupattur to Karaikudi rammed against each other late this evening near Tirupattur. The injured have been admitted to the nearby Government hospitals. Medicos who are on leave have been ordered to return to the Hospital immediately. It is said that the driver of the bus from Mettupalayam had allegedly slept on wheel. Inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Arrangements have been made to shift the severely injured to the Government Hospital at Madurai. The State Government has announced an ex gratia of three lakh rupees to the families of the deceased, one lakh rupees to the severely injured, and 50 thousand rupees for those who suffered light injuries.
