Taiwan is bracing for the impact of Typhoon Fung-wong, which blew out of the northwestern Philippines this morning, triggering floods and landslides and knocking out power across entire provinces. Taiwan’s central weather agency is expected to issue typhoon warnings today. The typhoon could make landfall in Yunlin or Chiayi in western Taiwan on Wednesday.

 

 

Typhoon Fung-wong blew out of the northwestern Philippines after setting off floods and landslides, knocking out power to entire provinces and killing at least two people. The Typhoon is 356 km north-northwest of Manila, Philippines, and has tracked northwestward at 24 km/h over the past 6 hours with h maximum significant wave height of 9.1 meters (30 feet).
