Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has issued the first installment of mother sanction of 401 crore and 50 lakh rupees for financial year 2026-27 to states and union territories under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for District and Subordinate Courts. He released the installment today holding a virtual meeting in New Delhi, with representatives of the concerned High Courts and State and UT Governments attending the meeting through Video Conferencing.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister underscored the need and importance of adequate infrastructure for the judiciary with the vision of ease of justice. He emphasized that the Scheme focuses on making justice more accessible and citizen-centric. He also apprised all the High Courts and State/UT Governments that the sunset date for present tenure of Scheme was March 31st and said that the extension of the Scheme for a further period of 5 years, from financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31 is under process.
