Social Justice Ministry Marks 5 Years of Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyaan in Amritsar

The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organized the five-year completion programme of Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyaan, at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in Punjab on Tuesday.
 
The event was chaired by Punjab Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria, along with Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr Varinder Kumar. 
 
Addressing the gathering, Dr Kumar said that more than 23 crore people across the nation are being made aware of the ill effects of the drugs with the help of over 7 crore youth, 5 crore women, about 16 lakh educational institutions and 20,000 master trainers. He called upon the youth to use music bands made by them in universities to spread more awareness against drugs.
 
Akashvani Correspondent reports that the Minister urged the youth of the country to take those addicted out of the menace of drugs for a self-empowered Nation. He asked the youth of Punjab to lead the nation in making the country drug-free. He also administered a pledge against the drug use.
 
The Governor, Shri Kataria and the Union Minister, Sh. Kumar also launched NMBA Portal 2.0, NMBA Mobile Application, Integrated Drug Addiction Monitoring System (IDAMS) Portal and National Drugs Survey Portal.
 
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched on August 15th, 2020 to address the issue of substance abuse through a three-pronged strategy involving prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
