Snowfall & rainfall cause temperature drop in Uttarakhand regions

In Uttarakhand, snowfall in the higher reaches, including the Char Dham shrines and rainfall in the lower areas have led to a drop in temperature. Intermittent rain has been continuing since yesterday in most parts of the state, including the capital, Dehradun.

A change in weather conditions since yesterday has once again intensified the cold across the state. Snowfall at Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri has caused a significant drop in temperature. In Chamoli district, higher regions including Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Rudranath, and Roopkund are witnessing snowfall. Snowfall is also continuing in the higher reaches of the Uttarkashi district. Intermittent rainfall in the lower areas, including the district headquarters, has further brought down the temperature. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain and snowfall in areas above 3,000 metres in some hilly districts over the next 24 hours. Strong winds with speeds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour are also expected.
