Six Indian shooters will begin their campaign in the trap events at the ISSF World Championship Shotgun 2025 in Athens, Greece, today. Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat, and Kirti Gupta will compete in the women’s trap, while Zoravar Singh Sandhu, Vivaan Kapoor, and Bhowneesh Mendiratta will take part in the men’s category. The qualification rounds start with 50 targets each for men and women. Neeru Dhanda, ranked World No.8 and the reigning Asian Champion, leads the Indian challenge. Ahlawat is an Asian Championship bronze medalist, and Gupta completes the trio.
In the men’s event, veteran Zoravar Singh Sandhu will lead alongside former Junior World Champion Vivaan Kapoor and Asian Championship silver medalist Bhowneesh Mendiratta. The competition features a strong international field. Women’s defending champion Lin Yi-Chun of Chinese Taipei and men’s World Champion Giovanni Cernogoraz of Croatia headline the event. Top-ranked shooters from Italy, the USA, and Great Britain are also in contention. Qualification continues until Friday, after which the top six shooters from each category will enter the finals. The women’s final is set for 5:30 PM IST, followed by the men’s at 7:00 PM IST.
