Security Tightened Along IB and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir Amid Smuggling Concerns

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Security forces have intensified vigilance along the International Border and the Line of Control following multiple incidents raising concerns over cross-border smuggling. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the move aims to strengthen border security and prevent any attempts at infiltration or ceasefire violations during the holiday season. Key frontier zones, including Gurez, Uri, Karnah, and Tangdhar sectors, as well as critical areas in the Jammu region, are under intensified monitoring. Along the International Border, BSF personnel are carrying out continuous patrolling, digital surveillance, and other precautionary measures. The troops are maintaining strict dominance over sensitive sectors and are ready to respond promptly to any security threats. The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered an arms and ammunition consignment dropped by a Pakistani drone near the border in Samba district. The packet discovered in the Regal forward area during routine surveillance contained two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, and a grenade. The consignment was likely intended to fuel disruptive activities in the border region. The timely recovery prevented a potential security threat and security measures have been strengthened and additional surveillance has been deployed. Meanwhile, a suspicious pigeon was caught in the forward village of Kharah in the Akhnoor sector near the LoC. The pale grey bird, marked with red and yellow rings on its legs, inscribed with “Rehmat Sarkar” and “Rizwan 2025”, was found by a 13-year-old local boy. Officials said the pigeon’s wings were also stamped, and the bird has been handed over to Pallanwala police for further investigation. In a separate development, Jammu Police continued their crackdown against narco-terror networks under Operation Sanjeevani. Officials said investigations are ongoing to trace cross-border and inter-state linkages of arms and narcotics supply.
