The Supreme Court has agreed to hear influencer Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea challenging multiple FIRs filed over his alleged distasteful comments on YouTube.
A bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar noted the submissions from Allahbadia’s lawyer and stated the matter would be listed within a few days.
Mr. Allahbadia’s lawyer requested an urgent hearing, highlighting that Allahbadia had been summoned by the Assam Police today. The FIRs are related to Allahbadia’s remarks on a YouTube show. His comments sparked controversy and led to complaints across the country.
In a related development, the Maharashtra Cyber Department and the Mumbai Police has given a fresh summon to comedian Samay Raina to appear before them within the next five days in connection with controversial remarks made on his YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent”.
Mr. Raina, currently in the U.S. has requested additional time to comply with the summons. But, according to sources, police has rejected his request and asked him to appear before them in the next 5 days.
