Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the redevelopment work of 170 railway stations have been completed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha today, Mr Vaishanw said that more than one thousand 300 stations have been identified for development under this scheme.
He said, major transformation is happening in the Railway sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Vaishnaw said, the government is focusing on Passengers’ safety and creating amenities for them.
Replying to a Question on allocation of Funds for railways in Kerala, Mr Vaishnaw said that three thousand 795 crore rupees has been allocated in this year’s Union Budget, which is ten times more than the allocation made during the Congress government.
He said the government is working on various railway projects which will double the capacity of the rail network.
The Minister appealed to the Kerala government to expedite the land acquisition work so that the Railway projects were completed on time.
Mr Vaishnaw said, that five thousand 673 crore rupees has been allocated in this year for Punjab, which is also 25 times more than the allocation made during the Congress government.
