Ravidas Jayanti Celebrated Across Country, President Murmu Extends Greetings

Ravidas Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, is being celebrated across the country today. Sant Ravidas was a 14th-century saint and founder of the Bhakti movement in North India. It is celebrated on Magh Purnima, which is the full moon day of the Magh month as per the Hindu calendar. On this day, Devotees gather at Sri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan Mandir, Seer Goverdhanpur in Varanasi, to celebrate his anniversary. 
 
President Droupadi Murmu has greeted people on the occasion of birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. In a message, the President said that Guru Ravidas was a revered saint and social reformer. She said that he conveyed the message of equality, social justice and love through his teachings. The President said that the thoughts of Guru Ravidas will always remain relevant and will continue to guide us toward embracing human values. She called upon everyone to integrate his teachings into their lives and actively contribute to nation-building.
