Union Minister Ramdas Athawale Highlights Government Initiatives for Divyangs, Women, and Senior Citizens

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale today said the Centre is intensifying efforts for the welfare of Divyangs, women and senior citizens. Addressing a press conference at Bhubaneswar today, the Union Minister said, more than 16 thousand Divyangs have been provided with assistive aids under the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan.

Mr. Athawale also said the reservation quota for Divyangs in employment and education has been raised from 3 percent to 4 percent, reflecting the Central Government’s commitment to inclusive development. He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi several schemes have also been initiated for senior citizens and women to make them self-reliant.

On the opposition’s allegation of manipulation in electoral process, Mr. Athawale said, the election procedures in the country are transparent and the Election Commission of India continues to operate independently and impartially.
