Rajasthan United FC Wins 41st Governor’s Gold Cup

Rajasthan United Football Club became the champion of the 41st All India Governor’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2025 played here at Paljor Stadium. In the well-contested final match played on Saturday, the debutant Rajasthan United FC edged past Services Football Team by a solitary goal to lift the champion’s trophy. The only and winning goal of the match was scored by Joseph Lalvenhima to seal 1-0 win for Rajasthan United.
 
 
Rajasthan United FC reached finals by defeating Sikkim Dragons Football Club, while Services FT defeated Diamond Harbour FC, Kolkata to secure its berth in the finals. The final match had the Chief Minister PS Tamang as the chief guest.
Rajasthan United players maintained its pressure on Services with constant attacks throughout the match but failed to capitalise some good opportunities to score in the first half. In return, Services FT players also missed some good opportunities to end the first half goalless.
 
 
Soon, in the second half, Joseph Lalvenhima scored the lead for Rajasthan United. Services FT players played their hearts out till the end of the match but could not stop Rajasthan United to lift the champions’ trophy with a narrow 1-0 win.
 
 
Joseph Lalvenhima was awarded the Man of the Match for scoring the most crucial goal of the match, while Naoba Meitei again of Rajasthan United was adjudged the Man of the Tournament.
 
 
The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs along with winning trophy and individual medals, while runners-up took away a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs along with runners-up trophy and individual medals. The chief guest also declared the tournament closed.
 
 
A total of 16 teams had participated in this edition of the tournament, which kicked off on 16 November. The tournament is an annual calendar event of Sikkim Football Association [SFA].
