Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that a record budget allocation has been made for Railways, which is benefiting every citizen of the country, especially the poor and the middle class.
Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha today, Mr Vaishnaw said significant investments made in the railway sector over the past decade have directly benefited every citizen of the country. He said, in the last financial year, the Railways operated 76 thousand 352 special trains.
He also highlighted that today, around 25 thousand trains are running daily across the railway network. The Minister informed that this year the Railways have also achieved a record freight loading of one thousand 670 million metric tonnes.
Mr Vaishnaw said there has been a notable improvement in safety. He said the Railways has registered record earnings, reflecting its strong operations and expanding scale.
