Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today reviewed the progress of Kavach 4.0 Implementation across the country. The Ministry of Railways said that the meeting focused on accelerating deployment and leveraging advanced technology to ensure more efficient train operations. It said that a centralized monitoring platform, SURAKSHA, is being developed as a unified operations management system to enable real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance of Kavach installations. The Ministry informed that so far, Kavach has been installed on 3 thousand 103 Route kilometers. It further said that the Kavach work is currently in progress on 24,427 route kilometers including high-density and high-utilization corridors. The Ministry said that an indigenous Universal Braking Algorithm has been developed to help in the faster implementation of Kavach 4.0. As part of the Version 4.0 deployment, Railways has already commissioned the Kavach on 1,638 route kilometers on key corridors such as Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah, while 7,100 route kilometers have trackside installations underway. The Ministry said that optical fiber cable has been laid over 8,921 kilometres, supported by 1,183 telecom towers and Kavach Data Centres installations across 767 stations.
