Organized by the Department of Personnel and Training, the Capacity Building Commission, and Karmayogi Bharat, Sādhana Saptāh brings together more than 100 Central Ministries and Departments, all 36 States and Union Territories, and over 250 training institutions on one vibrant national platform.

Mission Karmayogi has already onboarded over 1.5 crore learners on the iGOT platform. Can you just imagine- 1.5 crore government servants, from the bustling secretariat in Delhi to the block office in a remote district, the logging in, learning, and growing. They’ve completed more than 8 crore courses, with access to over 4 thousand 600 courses offered in multiple languages. This isn’t distant theory; it’s practical, role-based learning that’s already changing how our civil services work.

It’s built around three powerful Sutras that blend the best of our heritage with the promise of tomorrow- these are- Technology, Tradition, and Tangible Outcomes. so, let’s explore them one by one, because each one touches our lives. First, let’s talk about- Technology- which was on focus on 3rd and 4th April. Sessions dived into Artificial Intelligence in governance, digital public infrastructure, prompt engineering, and automation tools that make decisions sharper and services smoother. This isn’t about machines replacing people; it’s about empowering our officers to serve citizens even better.

Here the spotlight turns to measuring real public value: citizen impact tracking, clear priority sectoral goals, and dashboard-based monitoring that ensures policies actually improve lives on the ground. A farmer in Punjab sees his crop insurance claim settled in days, not months. A young mother in a small town gets her child’s vaccination appointment with a single click. These are the outcomes we can touch, feel, and celebrate.

The 63rd National Maritime Day is being celebrated across the country, highlighting India’s rich maritime legacy and recognising the contribution of seafarers to the nation’s growth. Marking the occasion, various programmes are being organised by Mercantile Marine Department, Kandla. More from our correspondent:-
“National Maritime Day is celebrated annually on April 5th, highlighting the significance of maritime operations and expressing gratitude to those who spend months at sea. This day commemorates the maiden voyage of India’s first merchant ship, SS Loyalty, which set sail from Mumbai to London on April 5, 1919, marking India’s entry into international shipping.
Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Joint Director General of Shipping and Principal Officer of Mercantile Marine Department, Kandla Captain Santosh Kumar Darokar explained that Merchant Navy Week is an integral part of National Maritime Day celebrations.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Maritime India – Empowering Progress.”
Deendayal Port Kandla, located on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat, has set a new record by handling over 160 million metric tonnes of cargo in the financial year 2025–26. On the occasion of National Maritime Day and Merchant Navy Week, various programmes are being organised at Kandla Port.
Captain Santosh Kumar said that the Mercantile Marine Department, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, in association with the Deendayal Port Authority, organised activities including Marine Flag Hoisting, a maritime run, cycling and yoga sessions, along with awareness seminars and competitions in schools and colleges. Earlier, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were presented with miniature National Maritime Day flags, symbolising the maritime industry’s contribution to the nation.
India’s maritime sector plays a vital role in the country’s trade and commerce, handling around 95 per cent of the country’s trade by volume and 70 per cent by value. From the pioneering voyage of SS Loyalty in 1919 to becoming a global shipping powerhouse, India has achieved a key position on global shipping routes as the sixteenth largest maritime nation in the world with a coastline of over 7,500 kilometres and 12 major ports. हिमाचल प्रदेश में ‘हिमकारा’ योजना जेल व्यवस्था में एक नई सोच स्थापित करने में अहम भूमिका निभा रही है। योजना का उद्देश्य जेलों को केवल सजा के स्थान के बजाय सुधार और व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण के केंद्रों में बदलना है। एक रिपोर्ट:-
“हिमाचल प्रदेश में ‘हिमकारा’ राज्य सरकार द्वारा शुरू की गई एक अभिनव जेल सुधार पहल है। इसका मुख्य उद्देश्य कैदियों को कौशल विकास, आत्मनिर्भरता और सम्मानजनक पुनर्वास के अवसर प्रदान करके उन्हें समाज की मुख्यधारा से जोड़ना है। कैदियों को उनकी रुचि के अनुसार विभिन्न व्यवसायों बेकरी और मिठाई बनाना बढ़ईगिरी, वेल्डिंग दुग्ध उत्पादन और फूलों की नर्सरी, कार धुलाई, सैलून सेवाएं और फास्ट-फूड इकाइयों का प्रशिक्षण दिया जाता है। कैदियों द्वारा तैयार उत्पादों को पूरे राज्य में समर्पित आउटलेट्स के माध्यम से ‘हिमकारा’ ब्रांड के तहत बेचा जाता है। इससे होने वाली कमाई का एक हिस्सा कैदियों के परिवारों को भेजा जाता है, जिससे उन्हें आर्थिक संबल और आत्म-सम्मान मिलता है। कांगड़ा जिला के धर्मशाला स्थित लाला लाजपत राय जिला जेल और खुला सुधार गृह इस योजना के तहत सक्रिय रूप से कार्य कर रहे हैं। इस पहल से कैदियों में कार्य अनुशासन के साथ आत्मविश्वास भी बढ़ रहा है और उन्हें अपनी मेहनत से कमाने का अवसर मिल रहा है। निश्चित तौर पर पर इस तरह की योजनाएं कैदियों को सम्मानजनक जीवनयापन के साथ ही उन्हें आत्मनिर्भर बनाकर समाज की मुख्यधारा से जोड़ने में कारगर साबित होंगी।परिक्रमा के लिए आकाशवाणी शिमला से मैं प्रभा शर्माÏ”

The Indian Institute of Horticultural Research IIHR near Bengaluru has developed the fruit trap technology that is benefitting the Mango farmers across the country. As the Mango season approaches we have this success story from our Bengaluru Correspondent:-
“The King of fruits and the most important horticultural crop Mango occupies the largest area under fruit cultivation across the country contributing significantly to the farmers’ livelihood and export earnings. However the Mango growing farmers encountered challenges due to the disease caused by fruit flies and pests. Its infestation severely affects the fruit quality and restricts international trade. The Indian Institute of Horticulture Research in Bengaluru. IIHR has addressed this challenge by developing a fly trap technology. This eco-friendly and economically viable integrated pest management strategy using methyl eugenol based parapheromone trap is helping to attract and eliminate the male fruit flies through the male annihilation technique. This helps reduce the fruit fly infestation by more than 80 percent thereby ensuring safer and residue free produce that can fetch good prices in India and abroad. Since 2009, this technology promoted through government support through subsidies is helping Mango farmers to get disease free yields. The horticulture departments in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa, Sikkim have adopted this technology in Mango orchards under the national programmes like Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Integrated Development of Horticulture Mission. Over 6000 Mango farmers have adopted this technology in many states. These farmers are successful today in producing the environmentally sustainable Mangoes that are pesticide free, thereby enhancing their income. Sudhindra. Parikrama from Bengaluru.”

“The project has been approved after recommendations from the Directorate of AYUSH, J&K with the objective of integrating the rich heritage of medicinal plants into the school education system in a meaningful and practical manner. The herbal gardens will serve as vibrant learning spaces where students will gain first-hand knowledge about the identification, cultivation, and uses of important medicinal plants, while also developing a deeper appreciation for nature and traditional systems of healthcare. The 100 Schools have been identified by the Directorate of School Education Jammu. Director AYUSH, J&K and CEO, J&K Medicinal Plants Board, Dr. Ajay Kumar Tikoo, termed the approval as a significant milestone and stated that the initiative reflects a forward-looking approach towards linking education with traditional knowledge systems. It is expected to create a lasting impact by instilling in young minds an understanding of the relevance of AYUSH systems and the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge for future generations. Dr. Tikoo conveyed his sincere gratitude to Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, for her constant support and leadership in securing approval of the project. The Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of AYUSH, remains committed to expanding such initiatives that strengthen awareness, conservation, and sustainable use of medicinal plants across the Union Territory. कनिका बंद्योपाध्याय रवीन्द्र संगीत की प्रसिद्ध गायिका थीं, जिन्होंने रवीन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर के गीतों को अपनी भावपूर्ण आवाज़ से एक नई ऊंचाई दी।

आज जयंती है पंडिता रमाबाई की, जो भारतीय समाज की एक प्रख्यात समाज सुधारक, शिक्षाविद और महिला अधिकारों की सशक्त आवाज़ थीं।
पंडिता रमाबाई ने उस समय महिलाओं की शिक्षा और अधिकारों के लिए काम किया, जब समाज में महिलाओं की स्थिति काफी सीमित थी। उन्होंने न केवल महिलाओं को शिक्षित करने का काम किया, बल्कि उन्हें आत्मनिर्भर बनाने की दिशा में भी महत्वपूर्ण प्रयास किए।
उन्होंने पुणे में आर्य महिला समाज की स्थापना की और बाद में ‘शारदा सदन’की शुरुआत की, जहाँ विधवाओं और जरूरतमंद महिलाओं को शिक्षा और आश्रय दिया जाता था।
उनकी उपलब्धियों में सबसे खास बात यह रही कि उन्हें संस्कृत भाषा का गहरा ज्ञान था, जिसके लिए उन्हें “पंडिता” की उपाधि दी गई… जो उस समय किसी महिला के लिए बहुत बड़ी बात थी।
उन्होंने महिलाओं की स्थिति पर आधारित प्रसिद्ध पुस्तक ‘The High-Caste Hindu Woman’ भी लिखी, जिसमें समाज की सच्चाइयों को सामने लाया गया।

आज फिल्म जगत की मशहूर अदाकारा दिव्या भारती की पुण्यतिथि है, जिन्होंने बहुत कम उम्र में ही वो मुकाम हासिल कर लिया, जिसका सपना हर कलाकार देखता है।
दिव्या भारती ने बेहद कम समय में अपनी खूबसूरती और चुलबुले अंदाज़ से दर्शकों के दिलों में खास जगह बना ली थी।
उन्होंने ‘विश्वात्मा’ से बॉलीवुड में कदम रखा, जिसका गाना ‘सात समुंदर पार’ आज भी बेहद लोकप्रिय है। इसके बाद ‘दीवाना’, ‘शोला और शबनम’, ‘दिल का क्या कसूर’ और ‘बलवान’ जैसी फिल्मों में उन्होंने अपनी शानदार अदाकारी से दर्शकों का दिल जीता।
साल 1992 उनके करियर का सबसे अहम साल रहा, जब उनकी कई फिल्में लगातार रिलीज़ हुईं और वे रातों-रात सुपरस्टार बन गईं।
उनकी बड़ी उपलब्धि रही फिल्म ‘दीवाना’, जिसके लिए उन्हें फ़िल्मफ़ेयर पुरस्कार (सर्वश्रेष्ठ नवोदित अभिनेत्री) से सम्मानित किया गया।
एक खास बात ये है कि दिव्या भारती ने हिंदी फिल्मों के अलावा तेलुगु सिनेमा में भी काफी काम किया और वहां भी जबरदस्त लोकप्रियता हासिल की।
दुर्भाग्यवश, सिर्फ 19 साल की उम्र में उनका निधन हो गया, लेकिन इतने छोटे से करियर में भी उन्होंने जो पहचान बनाई, वो आज भी लोगों के दिलों में ज़िंदा है।
