In Punjab, five additional FIRs have been registered against the unscrupulous travel agents accused of deceiving gullible young people with false promises of facilitating illegal entry into the United States, leading to their deportation. With this, a total of 15 FIRs have been filed so far and three arrests have been made in the case.
Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police, led by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Praveen Sinha, is investigating travel agents who charged victims hefty amounts by promising safe and legal immigration routes, subjecting them to inhumane conditions and eventual deportation. Our Correspondent reports that the SIT is working with cybercrime units, financial authorities, and central agencies to identify the human trafficking network, resulting in multiple arrests and the freezing of linked bank accounts.
