The government has sanctioned the Ferozepur-Patti Rail Link Project, covering a total length of 25.72 kilometers. The project, once completed, will significantly reduce the distance between Ferozepur and Amritsar from 196 kilometers to about 100 kilometers.

Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu while announcing this during a press conference at Chandigarh, today, said that the project will be completed with an estimated cost of 764.19 crore rupees, including 166 crore rupees towards land acquisition. The whole cost of the project will be borne by the Railways. He said the Ministry has written to the Punjab Chief Secretary for early acquisition of land. He said the project not only holds strategic and economic importance, it will serve as a crucial link between the Malwa and Majha regions of Punjab connecting Jalandhar-Ferozepur and Patti-Khemkaran routes.

The project promises significant socio-economic gains as well, benefiting nearly 10 lakh people and creating approximately 2.5 lakh employment opportunities.
