In Punjab, the state-level Republic Day program was organised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Multipurpose Sports Stadium in Fazilka, where the Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria, unfurled the flag and took the salute from the parade. Earlier, he paid obeisance at the martyrs’ memorial built in the village of Asafwala near the India-Pakistan border. Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that on this day, let us take a resolution that we will stay away from drugs, give good education to our children, strengthen brotherhood and mutual understanding and maintain the unity and integrity of the country.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann unfurled the national flag at Hoshiarpur. The Republic Day was celebrated across all other districts of the state as well.
