The Punjab government has rolled out ‘Punjab Film Promotion Policy 2026’ with an assurance to filmmakers, creative minds from home and abroad, investors and other media stakeholders of a single-window clearance system and complete government facilitation for shoots in the state.
The government is also working on developing a Film City in Mohali and promoting skill development in film production. The announcement was made during the panel discussion on the Media and Entertainment session at the ongoing Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 at Mohali yesterday.
Invest Punjab CEO Mr Amit Dhaka said that the state offers a 25 percent capital subsidy for films, documentaries and web series on cost of production incurred in Punjab, that would be a maximum of up to 3 crore rupees per film and web series, and the subsidy for Punjabi language films is 30 percent of cost of the production, a maximum of up to 3.5 crore rupees per film. The policy also includes 20 per cent capital subsidy for setting up film city, film studio, VFX studio and Training Institute in the state.
