Vinayaka Chaturthi is being celebrated with grandeur and devotion across Puducherry. At the famous Manakula Vinayagar Temple, darshan started with a special abhishekam at 4 am. The deity of Vinayakar was adorned with a golden armour. Thousands of devotees from Puducherry and neighbouring districts stood in long queues for darshan. Police made elaborate security arrangements to control the crowd.

Similar celebrations and special poojas are being held at all Vinayakar temples across the Union Territory. On the auspicious occasion, Lt Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy have extended their greetings to the people of Puducherry.
