Special camps for registration under the Central Bank Digital Currency system will be conducted across all constituencies in Puducherry from this month. Beneficiaries have been urged to attend the camps and complete the mandatory e-KYC process to avail benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
According to the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, e-KYC registration is mandatory for receiving the digital financial assistance. Beneficiaries who have not completed e-KYC have been asked to visit nearby Common Service Centres with their Aadhaar and ration cards. The process will be carried out free of cost.
Officials said, the digital currency provided under the scheme will remain valid for three months from the date of issue, and beneficiaries should utilise it within the stipulated period to purchase their entitled ration.
The Central Bank Digital Currency-based system, introduced in the Union Territory on February 26 this year by the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution, replaces the earlier Direct Benefit Transfer cash system for ration card holders.
