PSLV-C62 anomaly: ISRO investigates roll disturbance during third stage of EOS-N1 mission, says Chairman Dr V. Narayanan

The 64th mission of the PSLV-C62, carrying an Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-N1) and 14 other commercial payloads, encountered an anomaly toward the end of the PS3 stage after its launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota this morning. ISRO Chairman Dr V. Narayanan said that the PSLV is a four-stage launch vehicle with two solid stages and two liquid stages. He said that the performance of the vehicle up to the end of the third stage was as expected.

However, close to the end of the third stage, a slightly higher disturbance in the vehicle’s roll rates was observed, followed by a deviation in the flight path. He added that the data is currently being analysed. Earlier, the 64th mission lifted off, marking a crucial flight for the 44.4-metre-tall, four-stage PSLV-C62 rocket. The PSLV was carrying an Earth observation satellite along with 14 other commercial payloads for both domestic and overseas customers.
