Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary today. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the nation is remembering a pioneering woman whose life was dedicated to transforming society through service and education.

Mr Modi added that Savitribai Phule was committed to the principles of equality, justice, and compassion. He also noted that Savitribai Phule believed that education is the most powerful instrument for social change and focused on transforming lives through knowledge and learning.

Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes to Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary. In a social media post, Mr Shah said, Savitribai Phule gave a new direction to women’s empowerment by connecting women with the fundamental right to education. He said that she fought against social evils, established the country’s first school for girls, and ignited the flame of social reform. Mr Shah said, Savitribai Phule’s inspiring life will always remain a guiding light in nation-building.
