Press Briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’

Operation Sindoor was conducted between 1.05 to 1.30 AM last night, and nine terrorist sites were targeted. Giving details about the operation in New Delhi today, Colonel Sofia Qureshi of the Indian Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force informed that Operation Sindoor was launched to give justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

They said for the last three decades, Pakistan has been constructing terror infrastructure, which includes recruitment, indoctrination centres, training areas, and launch pads that are spread across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They gave details about the operation, including destroyed terrorist sites and how the operation was conducted successfully without targeting military and civilian installations.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the investigation into the Pahalgam terrorist attack has exposed the links of Pakistan with terrorists. He said, India’s intelligence agencies monitoring terrorist activities have indicated that there could be more attacks on India, and it was felt essential to both stop and tackle them. Mr Misri said, on the 22nd of last month, terrorists related to LeT and Pakistan attacked tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam and killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. He said the terrorists shot tourists in the head in front of their family members.

Mr Misri highlighted that this is the most serious incident since the 2008 Mumbai attack, considering that the civilians were attacked. Mr Misri said that a group called the Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack, and this group is connected with Lashkar-e Taiba. He said, Pakistan links have been established in this attack. He said it was deemed essential that the perpetrators and planners of the Pahalgam attack be brought to justice. The Foreign Secretary added that on 25th April, Pakistan’s pressure to remove the reference to the Resistance Front (TRF) from the media release of the UNSC should not be ignored.
