President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid their last respects to veteran BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra at his residence in New Delhi today. The 93-year-old leader passed away this morning at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
He was the first president of the BJP’s Delhi unit. Expressing grief over his demise in a social media post, Vice-President Radhakrishnan said he was an outstanding leader, widely respected for his deep understanding of people’s concerns. He added that Mr. Malhotra’s invaluable contributions to public life, including in the field of sports administration, will always be remembered.
Prime Minister Modi described him as an exceptional leader with a deep understanding of people’s issues. He also recalled Mr. Malhotra’s vital role in strengthening the BJP in Delhi and conveyed his condolences to his family and admirers.
Meanwhile, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, and other party leaders paid tributes at his residence. In a social media post, Mr. Shah said that whether as the President of Delhi BJP, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, or as a people’s representative, Mr. Malhotra served the country and the people of Delhi in every role. Mr. Nadda recalled that Vijay Kumar Malhotra was known for his simplicity, integrity, and unwavering loyalty. He added that Mr. Malhotra not only played a key role in expanding the BJP in Delhi but also guided and shaped countless party workers with dedication.
The mortal remains of Vijay Kumar Malhotra will be brought to the Delhi BJP office at Pant Marg tomorrow for party workers to pay their tributes. The cremation will take place the same day.
