President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to address the Odisha Legislative Assembly tomorrow on the first day of the winter session, marking a historic return of the President to the place where she started her political career as an MLA. The President will address the members of the House at 4 in the afternoon. This will be the first incident when a President of India will speak in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. President Murmu will visit Room Number 11, the chamber where she worked during her tenure as a legislator. The room has been renovated ahead of the President’s visit. President Murmu was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly twice from the Rairangpur Assembly Constituency in Odisha in 2000 and 2004. She held key portfolios in the BJD-BJP coalition government, serving as Minister of State for Commerce and Transport and later as the Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development. Security has been tightened across Bhubaneswar and also in and around the Odisha Legislative Assembly for the President’s visit.
