Preparations in full swing for 77th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path

The 77th Republic Day is around the corner. Preparations for the Republic Day Celebrations are in full swing at the Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Around ten thousand people from different walks of life will witness the parade as special guests. The parade will exhibit a unique blend of the country’s culture, its military prowess and its celebrated legacy. The Republic Day Celebrations 2026 will be a unique blend of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram, India’s military might and cultural diversity.

The theme of the parade is 150 years of Vande Mataram. Unique tableaux on the themes, “Swatantrata ka Mantra – Vande Mataram” and “Samriddhi ka Mantra-Atmanirbhar Bharat” will be presented. President Droupadi Murmu will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and take the salute during a ceremonial march past, which will include units from the Armed Forces, Para military Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, NCC and NSS.

Besides, the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and CAPFs are organising Pan-India band performances on Vande Mataram till the Republic Day. Further, invitations to the Republic Day Parade have also been designed on the theme of Vande Mataram. President of the European Council, Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be the Chief Guests for this year’s Republic Day Parade.

30 tableaux from 17 states and Union Territories and 13 Ministries and Departments will roll down the Kartavya Path this year with nearly 2 thousand 500 artists showcasing cultural performances. A total of seven marching contingents of the Indian Army, including the animal contingent, will march post the saluting dais. The Army’s Eighteen Marching Contingents and 13 bands will take part in the parade. A Battle Array Format will also be showcased by the Army for the first time. 29 Aircraft of the Armed forces, including Rafale, Su-30, C-295, Mig-29, Apache, among others, will participate in different formations as part of the celebrations.

Meanwhile, this cultural extravaganza and the military might of India will be witnessed by the special guests in the august gathering. This includes people with exemplary work in connection with income and employment generation, technology, innovation, start-ups, and Self Help Groups. The Full Dress Rehearsal of this year’s Republic Day will be held on the 23rd of this month.
