In Odisha, polling for the by-election in the Nuapada Assembly constituency is underway amid tight security. According to the Election Commission of India, 14.99 voting percentage has been reported till 9 this morning. Polling began at 358 booths in the constituency and will continue till 5 this evening. However, polling will end at 4 this evening at 47 polling stations located in remote and Maoist-affected pockets. A total of 2 lakh 53 thousand voters are likely to cast their franchise in the constituency. The by-election was necessitated following the death of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia of BJD. Nuapada Assembly constituency is witnessing a three-corner contest among Jay Dholakia of BJP, Snehnagini Chhuria of BJD and Ghasiram Majhi of the Congress, while there are 14 candidates in the fray.
