Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 was launched for imparting skill development training through Short-Term Training and up-skilling and re-skilling to youth across the country with aim to enhance the employability.
Replying during the question hour in Rajya Sabha, Mr Shekhawat said that under the scheme, the youth of the country will get employment opportunities by equipping them with industry-relevant skills. He further added that the scheme emphasizes to pursue diverse career paths by providing the youth with appropriate guidance and orientation. He said various IT tools like Skill India Digital Hub are also provided so that employment opportunities will be created to meet future industry-based requirements.
The Minister informed the House that the scheme will provide support for boarding, lodging, and transportation to special groups, including women and persons with disabilities. He said the training providers receive special assistance of up to 5,000 rupees per PwD candidate for procuring assistive devices and aids to ensure their effective participation in skills training.
