PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate South India Natural Farming Summit today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu today. The purpose of the Summit is to showcase the natural farming practice propagated by the organic farmer late Nammalvar to the World. 5,000 farmers are expected to attend the summit.

 

The Prime Minister will interact with the farmers practicing natural farming and will also be honouring 10 exemplary farmers during the event. He will also release the 21st PM-KISAN installment of Rs 18,000 Crore for 9 Crore farmers. The three-day farming Summit will end on 21st November.

 

Coimbatore, the Manchester of South India as it is favouritely called has been decked up for today’s summit. Traffic diversion has been announced in the arterial Avinashi Road. The road will be closed for traffic from 12 noon to 4 pm. Trucks have been banned from entering the city from 8 AM to 8 pm.

 

Security has been beefed up at the Coimbatore international airport. Private vehicles and call taxis are restricted from entering the airport between 12 pm and 3 pm today. It is to be noted that the total India’s export is pegged at Rs. 2,43,042 Crore according to 2024-25 analysis released by the Government.

 

Tamil Nadu stands third in the Country in agricultural production with 9.18% according to the 2023 -2024 statistics. The State shares 1.95% in spices production, first in floriculture, second in livestock production with 13.96% share, 6.50% share in fruits production, 4.62% in Vegetable production and 25.40% in plantations production. This summit also has agriculture-related experts to share their knowledge and experience in increasing production and exporting food production.
