Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a delegation-level talks with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides at Nicosia, to review bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation – particularly in trade, investment, infrastructure, and innovation. Regional and global issues, including India-Europen Union relations and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, are also expected to feature prominently in the discussions. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the highest honour of Cyprus, the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III. The award was presented by President Nikos Christodoulides during a special ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister and the President will visit Nicosia Town Hall. From there, they will undertake a symbolic joint visit to the United Nations (UN) ceasefire line – a gesture underscoring India’s long-standing contribution to global peacekeeping efforts. The Prime Minister’s visit will conclude with an official lunch hosted in his honour at the Presidential Palace, before his departure to Canada for the G7 Summit.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Modi and President Nikos Christodoulides held a high‑level Business Roundtable in Lemesos with top Indian and Cypriot entrepreneurs. The significant business outcomes emerged from the business roundtable meeting that Cyprus is set to integrate with India’s UPI payment platform; the NSE GIFT City exchange has signed an MoU with the Cyprus Stock Exchange; and BAO Capital Partners, a Cyprus‑based fund, pledged over 100 million dollar for India-focused investments.
