Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his grief on the demise of the classical singer Pandit Channulal Mishra. The singer died in Mirzapur early this morning at the age of 89. He was unwell for several months. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that he remained dedicated throughout his life to the enrichment of Indian art and culture. Praising the classical singer, the Prime Minister said that, along with taking classical music to the masses, Pandit Channulal Mishra also made an invaluable contribution to establishing Indian tradition on the global stage.
Expressing his thoughts, Mr Modi further said that it is his good fortune that he has always received affection and blessings from the late singer. He stated that in the year 2014, Pandit Channulal Mishra was also his proposer from the Varanasi seat. He extended his condolences to the family and admirers of the late singer.
