Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar on 1 February (Sunday) on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu said that Modi will reach the dera in the afternoon, after attending the Budget session in Parliament in the morning. The Prime Minister’s visit will coincide with the Guru Ravidas Jayanti. In recent years, Modi has been travelling to Seer Govardhan, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas in Varanasi, which falls within his constituency. Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar is considered one of the most revered sites for the Ravidassia community in Punjab. The head of Dera Ballan, Sant Niranjan Dass, was selected for this year’s Padma Shri award. Sant Niranjan Dass oversees religious sites both in Varanasi and at the Ballan Dera.
