Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Coimbatore, Tamilnadu on the 19th of this month. He will address the South India Natural Farming Summit which will be hosted by the Farmers’ associations in Tamilnadu. The Prime Minister will also interact with 50 scientists specialising in Organic agriculture from the Southern States.
The Summit will chalk out policies for broad based natural farming. The Coordinator of the Organising Committee P.R.Pandian said that it will raise awareness and encourage adoption of natural and regenerative farming practices.
The Summit is designed to cultivate a people driven movement to advance agriculture that is economically viable and socially inclusive, he added. There will be an exhibition with 300 stalls, interactive sessions by eminent scientists, policy makers, live demonstrations and a focus on youth and women engagement.
The event is anchored by national initiatives including Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddi and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana.
