Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN scheme on 19th of this month. With this installment, direct transfers under the scheme have crossed 3 lakh 70 thousand crore rupees, benefitting over 11 crore farmer families across the country.
The PM-KISAN scheme provides 6 thousand rupees a year to eligible farmer families, becoming one of the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer programmes. The scheme now dedicates over 25 percent of its benefits to women farmers. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare highlighted that the Digital reforms have significantly strengthened the scheme. It added that Aadhaar-based e-KYC through OTP, biometric or face authentication has expanded secure access. While the PM-KISAN Mobile App, updated portal features like Know Your Status, and doorstep Aadhaar-linked banking through IPPB have made services more farmer-friendly.
The Ministry mentioned that to further support farmers, a multilingual AI-powered Kisan-eMitra chatbot offers 24/7 assistance in 11 regional languages, helping users check application status, payment details, and resolve queries. The government has also launched a Farmer Registry to streamline the delivery of all social welfare benefits, eliminating repeated paperwork and ensuring last-mile coverage.
