PM Modi to Release ₹20,000 Crore Under PM-KISAN in Varanasi, Inaugurate Nalanda University Campus in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 17th instalment of more than 20 thousand crore rupees under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh tomorrow. The instalment will be released to nine crore 26 lakh beneficiary farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer. So far, more than 11 crore eligible farmer families have received benefits of more than three lakh crore rupees under the PM-KISAN scheme. During the event, the Prime Minister will also grant Certificates to more than 30 thousand women from Self Help Groups such as Krishi Sakhis.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on the 18th and 19th of this month. Tomorrow evening, the Prime Minister will witness Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and he will also perform pooja and darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

 

On the 19th morning, the Prime Minister will visit the ruins of Nalanda. Afterwards, he will inaugurate the campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar.  Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

 

Nalanda University is conceived as a collaboration between India and East Asia Summit countries. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by several eminent personalities including the Head of Missions of 17 Countries. The Campus has two academic blocks with 40 classrooms having a total seating capacity of around 19 hundred. It has two auditoriums having a capacity of 300 seats each. It has a student hostel with a capacity of around five hundred and 50 students. It also has various other facilities including an International Centre, an Amphitheatre that can accommodate up to two thousand individuals, a faculty club and a sports complex among others. The Campus is a ‘Net Zero’ green campus. It is powered by a solar plant, has its own domestic and drinking water treatment plant, water recycling plant for reusing wastewater, 100 acres of water bodies, and many other environment-friendly facilities. The University has a rich heritage legacy. The original Nalanda University, established around 16 hundred years ago, is considered to be amongst the first residential universities of the world. In 2016, the ruins of Nalanda was declared as a United Nations Heritage Site.
