PM Modi to hold delegation-level talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Gandhinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet German Chancellor Merz in Ahmedabad today. PM Modi and Chancellor Merz will visit Sabarmati Ashram and also participate in the International Kite Festival in Ahmedabad. This will be followed by bilateral engagements from 11:15 AM onwards at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, where the Prime Minister and the German Chancellor will review the progress made in the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, which has recently completed 25 years.
 
 
The Federal Chancellor of Germany, Mr. Friedrich Merz, arrived in Ahmedabad today for a landmark two-day official visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit, being the Chancellor’s first to the country, marks an important chapter in Indo-German relations as both leaders prepare to intensify cooperation across a wide spectrum of sectors. The bilateral discussions are set to focus on trade, investment, and high-end technology, while also advancing critical partnerships in defense, green sustainable development, and science and research. Beyond policy, the leaders will exchange perspectives on pressing regional and global issues and will engage directly with top industry heads.
 
 
Both the leaders will pay tributes at the Sabarmati Ashram. The German chancellor is also scheduled to visit the architectural marvel of the Adalaj Step Well. Both leaders will also participate in the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront. The day festival is featuring one hundred and thirty-five kite flyers from fifty nations, along with more than 900 participants from across India and Gujarat. The special attractions of the three-day festival include night kite flying on January 13th, heritage havelis, and a dedicated kite museum, among others.
