Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was not only a great hero of the freedom struggle but also a visionary of independent India. Addressing the Parakram Diwas programme in Andaman and Nicobar Islands via Videoconferencing today, Mr Modi said that Netaji envisioned a nation which is modern yet rooted in India’s ancient consciousness.
He remarked that Netaji’s valour and courage inspire the countrymen and fill their hearts with reverence for him. Extending greetings to all citizens on Parakram Diwas, he highlighted that in recent years, the day has become an integral festival of the nation’s spirit. He added that the day will continue to strengthen India’s Resolve for Development.
The main celebration of Parakram Diwas this year is being held in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr Modi remarked that the land of the Andaman symbolises the belief that the idea of freedom never ends.
The Prime Minister said that it is the responsibility of every citizen of the country to acquaint themselves with Netaji’s vision. He emphasised that India today knows how to build, manage and use power.
